LONGMORES APPOINTMENT BOOSTS COMMERCIAL TEAM

Longmores Solicitors has appointed a new partner to its commercial team.

Craig Harrison, a highly-regarded corporate specialist, has joined the Hertfordshire practice following a 12 year career with Watford and London-based solicitors Matthew Arnold and Baldwin.

Longmores has developed its company commercial practice organically over the last few years and the practice is actively focused on providing a full range of commercial services to owner-managed businesses.

With clients ranging from local businesses to international corporations the legal firm is also expanding its coverage into complex, high value work. Richard Taylor, who leads the company commercial team, said: "Despite the difficult economic climate, we have seen an increasing demand from commercial clients for our services.  We are delighted that Craig has joined the team to help us meet that demand. We have talented lawyers and great clients. This move sends a strong signal to the local market and beyond that we are committed to the sector and have a clear strategy to invest in building a market-leading practice."

Craig Harrison said: "I am delighted to be joining the partnership. I was attracted to Longmores because of the focus on expanding its commercial services, its careful approach to building its practice and its strong partnership ethos. I relish the idea of driving the company commercial team forward and realising the potential of the firm's platform: the objective being to further Longmores’ ambitions as one of the top firms in the northern Home Counties."

Anna Baptist, senior partner, said: "Company commercial is a core practice area for us and one in which we will continue to invest. Many of our competitors claim to offer company commercial expertise, but in fact very few of them have a partner who deals exclusively with that sector of work. We are committed to true specialism throughout the firm and see this as crucial at a time when the legal demands imposed on business are becoming increasingly complex.  Craig’s arrival will play an important part in raising further the profile of the practice and positioning it for the future. We aim to do more for our existing clients and to devote greater resources to ensuring that major players in the area know what we can do."
